Claude for creators
Claude AI for creators: what it can and can’t do
Claude AI is a sharp partner for scripts, hooks and research, and with Claude Code it builds the tools behind your content.5 Just don’t expect a text-to-video generator: Claude’s models output text, and even Claude Motion doesn’t use a video model.68 Here’s what Claude does well for creators, where it stops, and how a real reel workflow uses it.
What Claude AI does well for creators
Think of Claude as the colleague who never gets tired of a fourth draft. It won’t hold the camera. It speeds up everything around the camera: the script, the facts, the plan and, with Claude Code, the production itself.
Scripts and hooks
Give Claude your audience, the platform, the length and one sample of your voice, and you get drafts worth editing. Ask for options instead of one answer, then make it cut. A 60-second reel holds roughly 150 to 170 spoken words, and first drafts love to run long. A prompt that works:
Write three hook options for a 60-second reel:
why a MacBook trackpad seems to click
when there is no button under it.
Each hook under 12 words, each opening
with a contradiction. Then write the script
for the strongest hook in 150 to 170 words. Then ask Claude to check the payoff against the promise. A hook that the script never pays off costs you more trust than a weak hook does.
Research with sources
With web search on, Claude pulls in current information, and Anthropic says every response includes citations so you can verify the sources yourself.1 For explainers, ask for a fact table with one source per line, then open the links. A citation tells you where a claim came from. It doesn’t prove the claim is right.
Projects: one workspace per channel
Projects are self-contained workspaces with their own chat histories and knowledge bases. You add files to a project’s knowledge base and write project instructions that tailor Claude’s answers inside it.2 For a creator, that means one project per channel or client: your voice guide, three scripts that worked, audience notes and a list of phrases you never want to read again. Free accounts can create up to five projects.2 The instructions can be as short as this:
You write 60-second explainer scripts for my channel.
Voice: plain, curious, short sentences.
Never open with a question. No exclamation marks.
Every fact gets a source link in a table
below the script.Artifacts: work you’d show someone
Anthropic defines an artifact as anything Claude makes for you that you’d put in front of someone: a design, a deck, a document, a dashboard or a small interactive tool. The Docs, Slides and Design templates are on every plan. Slides export to PowerPoint or PDF, and Design covers visuals, mockups and one-pagers.3 That’s a content calendar, a sponsor deck and a one-page media kit without leaving Claude. Artifacts need the code execution and file creation setting, now labeled Create and edit files, turned on.3
File analysis
You can upload PDFs, Word documents, CSV, plain text, HTML, JSON and a few other formats, plus JPEG, PNG, GIF and WebP images, up to 20 files per chat. Excel files work once code execution and file creation are turned on.4 Export your channel analytics as CSV, if your platform offers it, and ask which topics held attention. Paste screenshots of comments and ask what people keep asking. Audio and video files aren’t on the supported list,4 so give Claude a transcript instead.
Claude Code: build and automate
Claude Code is Anthropic’s agentic coding tool. It reads your project, edits files and runs commands, in the terminal, your code editor, a desktop app or the browser.5 For creators, that means the small tools you’d never hire a developer for: rename 300 clips by date, cut a long recording into chapters, turn a script into subtitle files, or render a whole reel from code. Our Claude Code tutorial for beginners walks you through the setup.
What Claude can’t do, according to Anthropic
Start with the model itself: Anthropic lists text and image input and text output for all current Claude models.6 When Claude makes something visual, it builds it from code. That explains most of the limits below.
- No photos or illustrations. Claude doesn’t generate them the way image-generation tools do. It can build diagrams, charts and interactive visuals with HTML and SVG, a feature in beta on Claude web and desktop.7
- No realistic footage. Claude Motion, in beta on Team and Enterprise plans, builds short animations as code that moves text, charts, shapes and images, and you can export them as MP4. It doesn’t use a video generation model, so it doesn’t create realistic footage or people.8
- No audio or video uploads. Anthropic’s upload guide covers documents and images only.4
- No fact-checking on autopilot. Citations make checking faster.1 You still have to click them.
Claude plans: what creators get where
Prices and limits change, so check Anthropic’s pricing page before you subscribe. For creators, the more useful question is which feature sits on which plan.9
| Plan | Anthropic’s pitch | What creators should know |
|---|---|---|
| Free | “Free for everyone” | Chat, web search, file creation and Artifacts, up to five Projects, no Claude Code |
| Pro | “For everyday work” | Adds Claude Code and lifts the five-project cap |
| Max | “For people who work with Claude all day” | Everything in Pro with 5x or 20x the usage |
| Team | “For teams of 2 to 150” | Adds Claude Motion, in beta |
| Enterprise | “For large businesses operating at scale” | Claude Motion too, but off until an owner turns it on8 |
One detail worth knowing: Claude Code shares usage limits with the rest of your plan, so terminal work and chats draw from the same pool.9
Claude for marketing teams
Marketing teams use the same building blocks with more people involved. On Team and Enterprise plans, projects can be shared with colleagues, so the brand guide lives in one place instead of ten inboxes.2 On those plans, Claude Motion also turns reports and data into animated explainers, charts and walkthroughs for a deck or an all-hands.38 If your team needs a primer first, Anthropic’s Claude Academy has an AI Fluency course for creative work.10
A Claude AI video workflow for reels
Here’s the workflow behind our explainer reels, the same one our course Explain It in 60 teaches. Claude writes, plans and codes. The code renders the video.
- Pick a question with a surprising answer, like how strangers’ iPhones help you find lost AirPods.
- Claude writes the plan: facts with sources, three hook options, a script of roughly 150 to 170 words for 60 seconds and a scene list.
- An ElevenLabs voice, on your own API key, reads the script and returns a timestamp for every word.
- Claude builds 3D scenes where each image lands on its word.
- It renders a vertical 1080 × 1920 MP4.
- Before handover, it checks the loudness, keeps text inside the safe zone and flags any moment longer than 1.5 seconds without something new on screen. Music gets added in the app.
Your job in this workflow is judgment. You pick the question, open the sources and watch the render with fresh eyes. Something looks off? Say it in plain words, and Claude fixes the frame.
You need a paid Claude plan with Claude Code (the desktop app works) and an ElevenLabs account. If you want the rules and a starter project instead of building everything from scratch, see how our course helps you make 3D explainer reels with Claude Code. It’s a Get99Skills course, independent of Anthropic.
Questions
Is Claude AI a video generator?
Not like a text-to-video model. Claude’s models output text.6 Claude Motion, in beta on Team and Enterprise plans, builds short animations you can export as MP4, but it doesn’t create realistic footage or people.8 With Claude Code, Claude can also write and run code on your computer,5 and code can render a video. That’s how our reels are made.
Can Claude generate images?
Not photos or illustrations. Anthropic says Claude doesn’t generate them the way image-generation tools do, but it can build diagrams, charts and interactive visuals with HTML and SVG. It can also view and analyze images you upload.7
Is Claude good for marketing?
For drafts, research and repurposing, yes, as long as a person checks the facts and the voice. Web search answers come with citations,1 Projects hold your brand guidelines, and on Team and Enterprise plans projects can be shared across the team.2
Which Claude plan do creators need?
The Free plan covers chat, web search, Artifacts and up to five Projects. Claude Code needs a paid plan, and Claude Motion is only on Team and Enterprise.9
